Vintage, Collectibles, Glassware, Repurposed, Upcycled, Recycled With LilacsNDreams

Hello, and Welcome to LilacsNDreams! Glad to see you here, and hoping ya'll have a super Hump Day too!

Busy busy busy weekend, but it is over with. Many hours spent driving, but I was also able to enjoy much of it too. Seen family on husband's side, and I got to surprise my Home Shop Girl friend by visiting with her for a bit too.

With all the driving I did...Monday was like 12 hrs trying to complete some things, and get home. But, I was able to spend some time thinking about things, questioning some things, and answering some of my own questions too. I have been speculating for a while about maybe closing my 1 store at Artfire, and put pretty much everything into 1 location. As my friend would say "simplify" things. With my Lilacs Shop I sell vintage, collectibles, glassware, home decor, kitchenware, dinnerware, etc. What if I would also add with that some of my RePurposed, UpCycled, Recycled treasures from my 2nd shop with my Lilacs Shop? Many people have a variety store, house everything under one place which gives a big variety of things for shoppers to view also. I have different store names right now, and yes sometimes it can become confusing. Or, at times I only have enough time to spend with 1 shop, and the other one will be pushed off a bit till I can catch up properly to work with it.

Put most of my treasures into 1 shop, and spend more time working with things there, less email addresses would be needed, better for organizing with, and so on. Also, some of my RePurposed, UpCycled, and Recycled treasures are sometimes made with a vintage piece that does not sell, it is a single piece that does not sell, might have a minor flaw that it will not sell alone, etc. Since I don't like things going to garbage, the landfills, the dumps, etc why not bring them to life in another way, right?:)

So, since I have pretty much decided, am now home, done running for a bit now, I am hoping to start focusing on combining things into one. Then, I will have 1 Artfire Shop, and 1 Ecrater store. All 1 name, and easier to work with that way too. I have had my LilacsNDreams name since like 2004-2005, working on websites, my blog, and it really feels better to keep focusing with the one name too.

Wishing ya'll a great Happy Hump Day! Enjoy, have fun, be productive, make sales, and thanks again for visiting LilacsNDreams. In your spare time please visit my 2 stores at LilacsNDreams Artfire Shop, and LilacsNDreams Ecrater Store. Watch for the new additions of my conversion going into my Lilacs Shop within the next few days, and wish me luck!:) Take care, and have a Happy Day Everyone!:)

Vintage Toy Memories Collection on Artfire

I have been featured with a collection at Artfire called Vintage Toy Memories created by FooFooVintage. Visit with this collection, and feel like a child again with all the toy offerings being shown.

There is quite a bit of time, and effort that goes into these collections. A person if interested in making ones roams the site of Artfire with a theme that they have already created in their mind. They then have to look for pictures from various sellers that they feel would be appropriate for the collection they are creating. Takes time, is fun, and you get to see a lot of things being offered on Artfire too. Kind of like window shopping. How fun!

Enjoy the collection being shown, and always welcome to visit my shop there too at LilacsNDreams Artfire Shop

Thanks for visiting with me today, and know you are Welcome here anytime. Please feel free to share things too.

I hope to find it a new home with someone who can appreciate the beauty, and unique rare piece that this is. Great addition for the Fenton Collector to have for their collections.

Having Your Own Website, Domain, Host

Good Morning, and Welcome to LilacsNDreams Blog. I wanted to stop in here today, and mention about websites, and having your own domain. Many of us would like to do our own, and it can be a good move. But, there is always the issue of the cost with them too. Yes, they can be quite costly to set up, and sometimes maintain too. I guess it all depends on what you wish to do with the website. But, do know there are some sites that are free, and low cost too.

Some use their websites as their selling venues, some have websites that are maybe 1-2 pages because it is more as advertising for them, and there are some who use their websites as a landing page for all their venues, other websites, blogs, and so on and just redirect from there.

For me? I am not a computer techie person, and therefore I teach myself as I go. Learn as I go, sometimes ask questions, or read answers to questions answered. I have been working with different places, trying them out, and of course seeing other places mentioned by many too. So, I am here today to mention a few to you, and if you have any to add to this list, please do so:)

First mentioned is going to be Weebly. This place is free. Some have added buttons t here for paypal, and google checkout. I think I seen a shopping cart there too. For me I use my Artfire and Ecrater widgets in place of the shopping carts right now. You can click, and still purchase, but I do not have the extra expense of a cart with it at this time. Has been accessible moving around this place, they have templates offered for you to use, and you set things as you wish to do. I have seen some use this as their blog too. Check it out when you can, and also visit my LilacsNDreams Weebly Site too.

Ok, on with the list of sites to use. Another place to use is with Google. It is free, use as many pages as you desire, but will note to you that it is a little trying here too. As all things are with google...they make you work at it, and can get complicating sometimes. But, you get unlimited pages here, and it is free. I have one of my domains directed to a site with godaddy for a google site. Please visit if you would like at LilacsNDreams.net

Another place I have seen mentioned is PageBuzz. They have the shopping cart there, many templates to choose from that you would like to use, and I believe their cost was $20 a month. Some are using HighWire which I think can cost about $19.95 a month, and up depending what you choose. There is Big Commerce which the cost is about $24.95? a month, and up also. Some have used Yahoo, Prostores, HostMonster was mentioned and is about $6.95 a month. There is WordPress that some have liked, and some didn't because of the html and css coding you worked with. There is Vendio that does have a shopping cart. When choosing them make sure you choose the free store, or you will get tied in with ebay unless that is what you would like. There is GoDaddy that does domain registerations, but also hosting too. Webs is another free place to use. And...don't forget you can use your Blog Blogger as a website too.

Remember, it all depends what you want from the site, how much work you would like to do with it to get it ranked, seen, and etc. I find along with many others for the time being that redirecting from your website has been easier. You do not have to spend as much time populating it with products. Websites can be great for redirection....to your venues that you use, and to use as a gallery.

Also, it has been suggested that you should have your domain, and your hosting registrations separately. I agree with this. I use godaddy for my domain registrations, and like it has I can control where it is directed to. I might direct it to a website at one time, and then due to circumstances decide to change it to maybe my blog. Either way, customers and friends keep using the same URL address, and are redirected without any hassle on their part too.

Hope this has helped some of you with decisions on having your own websites. Remember, they can take some work and time, but how much is up to what you want to put into it, and how you want the site treated too. Good Luck to all of you, and again, if you have any to add to the list, please feel free to suggest them. Happy Hump Day!

Update for Fenton Blue Green Opalescent Grape and Cable Glass Bowl

Hello, and Welcome to LilacsNDreams. Just wanted to add a small update with the mystery of the research with the Fenton Blue Green Opalescent Grape and Cable Bowl I have listed at LilacsNDreams Artfire Shop

Today 03-08-2011 I got an email from the museum@fentongiftshop.com in a response to a question I had asked earlier about this particular bowl. This is the response that they gave to me:

Color: Green Opalescent
Pattern: Grape and Cable
Year: Circa 1980s
Item: Bowl
They believe that the bowl was a sample made for the Fenton Gift Shop. They do not keep records of sample items. Fenton company did get their idea for the Grape and Cable pattern from Northwood Glass Company. The mould used to make this bowl is by Fenton.

Wow! So, this piece could very well be an unusual rare collectible. I have gone to the website for the FentonGiftShop.com to look at things more. They have a woman there for about 30 yrs now who paints the designs on some of the pieces for Fenton. She does take orders, and special requests for some pieces. That makes them even more unique, rare, and a treasured memory too! On this site they also discussed the scheduled tours you can take to see how glass is made, I got on one page that talked of the museum of glass and the cases of glass they show.

On their first page they have a paragraph that states Nowhere on earth will you find a wider selection of first-quality, preferred seconds and retired Fenton Art Glass then at the Fenton Gift Shop in Williamstown, WV, and then gives the address of where they are.

It also states on this page Limited items are available for purchase in the Fenton Gift Shop, and gives the number to call. If you like, visit Fenton Gift Shop to see all they have to show there. Amazing, and very insightful too!

After receiving this from them I felt it was confirmed just a little bit more about this being a special rare find---which others helping me with search had also questioned about this too. It would be a treasure to adorn someone's home for years to come.

Thanks for visiting with LilacsNDreams today, and glad you could join me. I am happy to share what I learn, and have really enjoyed learning about this bowl, meeting people along the way, and also enjoy passing this onto others. Take care, and have a great evening everyone!:)

A Fenton Blue Aqua Opalescent Grape and Cable Ruffled Top Bowl

After spending most of the week researching this Fenton Blue Opalescent Grape and Cable Bowl, and there were many others who also assisted with the research of this unique piece, I have finally listed this bowl for sale with my shop at Artfire. Most pieces of the Fenton Grape and Cable pattern are seen in the carnival glass. This is one piece that is not carnival glass, is not iridized for the carnival glass, and thought maybe to have gotten out the door of production before the marigold spray had been added to this for the carnival look. Or, could it have been a small experimental run with Fenton on this piece, and color? No one knows for sure, at least that has been found this far.
Many books, many authors, many researchers interpretations adds to the charm of this beautiful piece that words, and pictures cannot do justice to. When you get a chance, visit my shop at Artfire to view this beautiful piece. Great for the collector of Fenton, the Glass collector, and would make a great gift for someone very special too.

I am so thrilled with this piece, and had to come by to show everyone here. Enjoy!:) Have a super week everyone!:)

Fostoria, Iridescent Blue Carnival Glass, Iridescent Pink Carnival Glass Glasware

Hello, and Welcome to the blog of LilacsNDreams! Glad to see you here. If you would like to see the pictures with the links of items I have listed with my store, and shop at Ecrater and Artfire, hop on over to my LilacsNDreams Store blog to see this. Got some beautiful glass ware I am offering. We plan on moving, and it is time to down size things here. Plus, I am scared to move some of this glassware, and have something happen to it too. I prefer it goes to a home safely from me, then to travel with movers:)

Been spoiled with the warmer days we had because t is cold out now...ugh! But, that doesn't stop me from keeping busy with my stores, and trying to get more inventory into them. The usual you know, pictures, measuring, weighing, researching...that is where a lot of time is spent is doing this. I do have a Fenton bowl I hope to be listing soon. Been researching that most of the week, and unusual piece I have not found anywhere else yet. I have ideas of the history, and can explain things with that. Just need a little more knowledge to feel comfortable listing it:)

When you have a chance, don't forget to visit my LilacsNDreams Store blog which there is a little link at top for it, or just click on it now. Also, visit my Artfire shop, and my Ecrater store. Have a Happy Weekend everyone!:)
