Buying Searching Junking and Preparing For Reselling.
Hello, and Welcome to LilacsNDreams! I was curious about something. Once treasures found are brought home with you, what do you do next? I am sure we all have different ways of doing things, and we all do what we feel to be best for our sales. Of course the wonderful decisions of are we keeping it, or will we sell it?...LOL:)
I love shopping Thrift Stores, Yard Sales, Auctions, Estate Sales, Flea Markets, and Yes! Junking too! Once I get items home I set all the pieces out, and I make my notes of the items bought, where bought from, dates bought, and prices I paid for things too. Then...comes the fun part. Gently washing, and cleaning all the items to the best of my abilities. I always worry about damaging things so I am careful with all pieces, do them one by one, and take my time with them. Since they are pieces that will be resold as is, or used in repurposing I still thoroughly look all the pieces over carefully. During this time I will note any faults, knicks, markings and stamps of brands, and so on. Once I have completed this I will then get out my notebook, and start my research on pieces to see how many others are also being offered. I like to get an idea of average sale prices that are offered, and what they have sold for as well. Some of these treasures may also be researched with different books to learn some of their history, and values for in today's market too.
Doesn't seem like much of a procedure with this step of preparations, but it can be time consuming. I enjoy it as I learn the pieces, and connect with them by better viewing them in a different way from their purchase.
Hey, if you have something to add with this, or would like to share something please know that you are welcome to do so. Just hit the old comment button below, and share with us all. Love hearing from all of you, and I even enjoy seeing ya'll say Hi to me too!:)

I LOVE junk! I love digging for the pieces, I love treasure hunting, I love thrifting and finding everyday pieces that can be used as is. Or, better yet, repurpose the pieces to make something different. Sometimes it is adding pieces together, sometimes taking a part a little bit, but knowing there is always something to do with any piece found for all of our home decors.
I just a couple of blogs, and what amazing things they show they have done, or show what others have done! Great way to visualize things you can do yourself with your thrifty finds, or even with extra pieces you have sitting at home. And, sometimes what we have at home just needs a little touch up for us to fall in love with it even more.
A few blogs to take a look at to see the beautiful everyday things being done..

Hope everyone is having a great Sunday! Feel free to ask any questions, or comments with each blog that I post. I will respond to you as quickly as possible, and let's have fun!:)
Hello again everyone! This won't be real long, and I should have done it sooner, but got caught up working on some website things. Anyway, I watched American Pickers tonight, did anyone else watch? WOW! Did they find some really neat, nice, and Great Treasures! I really wished I had been there with them sorting through things, digging through things, and looking like they did. I enjoyed the last place they stopped at, and the older gentlemen they purchased quite a bit from. Now, that gentlemen was a collector, and pretty good at knowing his stuff too. I liked how he negotiated prices with them, he was firm with his prices, and reasons for it too. And, the cars he had were great too! It was just a lot of fun watching it tonight, and I really enjoyed it too.
Hope ya'll had a great evening, and was able to enjoy it too. Take care Everyone!
Hello Everyone & Happy Friday to all! Sorry, been absent for few days. Been rushing here, rushing there, and trying to fit time in with everything in between, and not getting things fully done. It's a working progress.
Hmm, the smell of spring, the feel of spring, and everything good that comes with it too:-) I am sooo looking forward to the thrift stores, yard sales, estate sales, etc. I also am anxious to go junking! Yes, Junking! Everyone is going to be cleaning their homes out with spring cleaning, businesses are changing for the season, or whatever the excuse may be. Many things will be thrown out, set aside to give away, and etc. This I really like. Many treasures to be found this way. Dig, dig, and more digging....take it home, clean it up, paint it, touch it up, refurbish it in some way, or completely repurpose it....no matter what it is still the same piece, and has now served it's purpose too.
Last weekend I got some things from a small flea market type deal that puts the money towards redoing the library. Sometimes you can find some really good things there, and it is pretty much considered free will donations there. Some things are marked which is understandable with that too. I got an old window, with the glass yet, has been painted, has an old hook latch on it, and some flowers were already added to it. Anyway, it is in my dining room right now, does have the hook on back for hanging, but I will not hang it till I redo the flowers a little bit. Don't take me wrong, I like the colors in the flowers, they are nice, and do look great in homes, but it is not me. Once I get it done I am thinking of putting it on our bedroom wall with a straw hat that has ribbon & flowers around it I had done for my grandmother, and also some soft pastel picture frames that instead of pics in them I have added different things of interest: scrapbook paper for the background, painted cardboard keys, distressed wooden like fence, and just little things like that.
When....I get this done I will make sure to take some pics to share with everyone too. Before this gets any longer, and becomes boring I shall stop for now. Hope ya'll have a great weekend, and enjoy 'Spring' that is finally in the air now!:-)
